The 10 Loveliest North Shore Homes This Week for Sale From $880K to $1.5M
The quick answer: This week, 19-21 Downfall Rd in Newbury MA leads the list at $1,495,000: a 1904 Victorian on 4.64 acres with gardens and a six stall barn. Nine more homes, one in each North Shore town, run from $875,000 to $1,249,900. 4 of the 10 were built before 1920.
This is what the North Shore feels like on an ordinary Saturday, not a listing day.
You picture it already. Coffee on the porch. Salt in the air. A garden you planted yourself.
Then you open the listings, and half the homes look like every other home. You want one with a story.
If you've been searching for a house with real charm, you aren't alone. It's the most common thing my North Shore buyers ask for.
Here are the 10 loveliest homes for sale on the North Shore this week, one per town. Then scroll down for the coffee, beaches and trails in each one.

How did we pick the 10 loveliest homes?
We pulled every house for sale from $750,000 to $1,500,000 in 19 North Shore towns on October 24. We kept the ones still open to offers, with at least 3 bedrooms.
Then we looked for charm: gardens, porches, fireplaces, water, old beams and wide pine floors. We favored homes with lots of photos and a fair price for the town. We kept one per town.
What should you know before you buy an antique home?
Old homes are full of character. They also come with a few questions.
- Ask about the heat, the wiring and the age of the roof.
- Check if the house is in a local historic district. Some changes may need approval.
- Bring an inspector who knows old homes.
Can you offer less than the price the seller is asking?
Sometimes, and it's worth asking. Most buyers wait for a price drop. That wait can cost you the home.
Here's what I do. I look at how long similar homes take to sell. A week before a home hits that point, I ask one question. Is the seller open to a lower price? A calm ask saves my buyers real money.
