Salisbury MA Schools and Property Taxes: What Should You Plan For in 2026?

A wide sandy beach with gentle waves and light snow on the dunes in Salisbury MA

The quick answer: Salisbury MA's FY2026 tax rate is $9.93 per $1,000 of assessed value, or about $993 a year for each $100,000. Kids attend Triton Regional schools, shared with Newbury MA and Rowley MA. Triton is studying a new or renovated middle and high school. A local funding vote is targeted for November 2027.

The mortgage is the cover charge. The house charges you all year.

Your tax bill is part of that yearly charge. In Salisbury MA, a school building vote could change it in the next few years.

If you love the beach life but feel uneasy about what taxes will do next, you aren't alone. That's one of the first things buyers ask me here.

So here's what we know today. Every number below comes from the town, the school district or the state. Where a number isn't settled, I'll say so.

Buy for today's tax bill, but plan for the vote that's coming.

What's the property tax rate in Salisbury MA?

If you buy in Salisbury MA, your FY2026 tax rate is $9.93 per $1,000 of assessed value. You can find it on the town's assessor site.

Assessed value is the value the town puts on your home for taxes. It isn't the price you pay. For FY2026, values are set as of January 1, 2025. To estimate your bill, divide the assessed value by 1,000. Then multiply by 9.93.

That's about $993 a year for each $100,000 of assessed value. So you can check any house you like in a few seconds.

When will Salisbury MA set its next tax rate?

Most likely late this year. Fiscal year 2026 ran from July 2025 to June 2026, so the FY2027 rate is next.

Last year, the select board held its tax hearing on November 24, 2025. If you buy this fall, ask for the newest rate before you set your budget.

Which schools do Salisbury MA kids attend?

If you live in Salisbury MA, your kids go to Triton Regional schools. Three towns share the district: Salisbury MA, Newbury MA and Rowley MA.

Because it's regional, you'll see most school numbers for the whole district, not one town. Each town pays its share of the district budget. That share is part of your tax bill, so you pay for the district, not just your town's schools.

What's the Triton Regional building project?

Triton is studying a new or renovated middle and high school with the state's school building agency.

The agency invited Triton into a study in August 2025. The district set aside $1.7 million for it. The study started in April 2026. The building committee is looking at 11 options. All 11 were set to go to the state in mid October 2026.

The committee expects to pick one option in early 2027. The state's base share of eligible costs is 47.84 percent. The towns, and so you as a taxpayer, would pay the rest. If you want to follow along, the district posts updates on its project page.

Will the Triton project raise Salisbury MA taxes?

It could. The district is aiming for a local funding vote in November 2027.

Big school projects in Massachusetts often go to voters as a debt exclusion. A debt exclusion is a vote to raise taxes above the normal limit to pay for one project. If you live there, you get a vote.

No total cost has been set yet. So if you buy in Salisbury MA, plan for today's bill plus room for this vote.

Is Salisbury MA part of Whittier Tech too?

Yes. Salisbury MA is one of 11 member towns of Whittier Tech, the regional trade high school in Haverhill MA.

In January 2024, voters in 10 of the 11 towns said no to a $444.6 million new building. A new state study was set to start on April 28, 2026. Each member town pays a share of Whittier's costs. So if you buy in Salisbury MA, you're looking at two school building questions ahead, not one.

How do I check Triton Regional test scores?

Use the state's school profiles site. It's free, and it's the same data the district uses.

The spring 2026 MCAS results went up in September 2026. MCAS is the state test kids take in grades 3 to 8 and grade 10. Search for Triton, open the test results, and look at the share of students who met or beat expectations.

You'll also find graduation rates and spending per student there. Look at the exact school your house would use, since that's where your kids will go.

Is Salisbury MA a good fit for your family?

If you want the beach close by and a lower rate today, Salisbury MA has a strong case.

Go in knowing that two building votes could come. If you're also looking at Newburyport MA or Amesbury MA, compare the real bill on real houses, not just the rates.

Test scores are one snapshot, and they track closely with family income. Visit the schools and talk to parents you meet. Then pick the trade that fits your life and your budget.

What should you do next?

  1. Find the assessed value of a Salisbury MA house you like on the town's assessor site.
  2. Divide it by 1,000 and multiply by 9.93 to estimate the yearly tax.
  3. Check the Triton building project page for the newest dates and costs.
  4. Look up the Triton school for that address on the state's school profiles site.
